Organizational Issues Associated with Network Governance of a Local Intersectoral Round Table, the CLIC of Bordeaux-Cartierville

Local round tables (LRTs) are veritable coordinated action networks in which many issues, practical actions, and collective strategies related to the territory's social, economic, and cultural development are discussed. The actors involved in the LRTs' governance processes wish to design and implement strategic territorial interventions in the form of intersectoral consultation/action on issues concerning the population's well-being and development. The LRT's member organizations interact through multiple intersectoral consultation practices that can potentially facilitate the emergence of new network governance methods. In order to better understand the dynamics and mechanisms associated with intersectoral consultation practices, researchers affiliated with the ARIMA Partnership have been working since May 2012 with members of the Conseil local des intervenants communautaires de Bordeaux-Cartierville (CLIC-BC) [Local council of community practitioners in Bordeaux-Cartierville] to implement a research project. This participatory study aims to document the innovative character of the practices structuring intersectoral consultation and in so doing, further the comprehension of issues related to network governance.

  • Understand the issues related to the structuring of CLIC's intersectoral consultation practices
  • Integrate sectoral action into governance processes that might facilitate (or not) the local emergence of innovative consultation practices
